Chemical Engineering Celebrates Graduates

The 六九色堂 Chemical Engineering Department celebrated its accomplishments鈥攊ncluding the Chem-E Car Team鈥檚 first-place win in the AIChE Western Regional Conference鈥攂efore rolling into the University Student Union bowling alley for some fun.

鈥淭his is a time of celebration,鈥 said Chemical Engineering Chair Roger Lo. 鈥淟et us know how you鈥檙e doing and stay in touch.鈥

Dean Forouzan Golshani congratulated the Class of 2019 ChE graduates, as well as members of the Chem-E Car Team. 鈥淥ur region and our state are packed with some big names,鈥 he said. 鈥淭hat was a huge achievement. Great job.鈥

Alumni John Crouch wished the graduates luck as they enter the Chemical Engineering field. 鈥淚t鈥檚 very gratifying to watch your success and know the hard work you put into it,鈥 he said.

The Chem-E Car Team members recognized, include: Assistant Professor Ted Yu, advisory council member Mack Knobbe, lecturer Michael Hom, and students Evelyn Muro, Anthony Reyes, Diana Portillo, David Luong, Julio Zuniga, Sean Blydt-Hansen, Brenda De La Torre, Calvin Ho, Siwanet Ratanasiripornchai, Randolph De Leon, and Charlie Norng.

The Graduate Dean鈥檚 List recipient was Natalie Elyse Silver. Receiving the AIChE Officer Service Award were Sandra Hwee, Evelyn Muro, Aron Avella, Mohamed Abohamad, Aaron Perez, Cesar Ruiz, Marisol Bernal, Valeria Lopez, Diana Portillo, Minh Nguhen, and My Vu.

Audrey Nguyen was named Outstanding BS ChE Student, and Tamunotelema Higgwe, Wade Shipley, and Dejuante Walker received Outstanding Undergraduate Research Awards. Marisol Bernal, a member of Beach Biotech, one of the 六九色堂 Innovation Challenge finalists, received a certificate of recognition, along with her advisor Professor Sergio Mendez.
