Single Subject Credential Program (SSCP)
Welcome to the Single Subject Credential Program (SSCP) at Cal State Long Beach!
The Preliminary Single Subject Credential Program (SSCP) at Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà prepares candidates to teach the specific subject(s) named on the credential in departmentalized schools. This is commonly done in California high schools, junior high and middle schools. However, a teacher authorized for single subject instruction may be assigned to teach any subject in his or her authorized fields at any grade level: kindergarten and grades one through twelve. Completion of the program lead to issuance of the Preliminary Single Subject Credential from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

The CED Student Success & Advising Center (SSAC) at Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà provides advising to all prospective and current credential students. See the advising schedule list below for more information on how to speak with an advisor. We also offer monthly information sessions where an advisor goes over the program in detail and answers any questions that prospective students have. We suggest that prospective students begin by attending an Information Session first and then reach out to SSAC with any questions or one on one assistance you may need after that.
SSAC Advising Hours
In-Person Advising — We've MOVED! Come see us in our new location in EED-18! Same building, just off the lobby. When you're facing the tables and chairs in the lobby, our front door is to your left.
Phone Advising — Candidates who that have brief questions regarding the program may call 562-985-1105 and requesting to speak with a credential advisor.
